Have you always seen yourself as a bit of a loser?
If you have, then this movement is for you.
Unlike most movements that start small then get bigger:
Like Gay rights, LGBTQI rights, women’s rights, the Rrght to die with dignity,
the list is endless. All phenomenal successes, that gained permanent rights
enshrined in legislation.
So what about the ‘Right to do Whatever the Fuck I Want, whenever itTakes My Fancy’ ,
like not get vaccinated if I don’t particularly feel like it today.
Why has this campaign, unlike so many campaigns before it, taken off like a lead balloon?
Maybe it’s time to ask ourselves that question?
The Anti-vax, anti-lockdown, anti-mask, anti-sanitizer, anti-isolation, anti quarantine movement, has the overwhelming support of every industry that stands to gain from the sale of snake oil, and other exotic Covid remedies, enormous support within the Qanon cult, the M.A.G.A. are all on board, North Korea has joined in, even the infamous Russian computer hackers are baking it 100%. (but I suspect their ‘grass-roots’ organization is probably ‘astro-turf’)
So what in the hell went wrong?
The Anti-vaxer Movement started really big.
2 years ago, when Covid vaccinations were first mentioned, around half the population were very hesitant to get one.
But here we are 2 long and annoying years later and at least 95%
of the entire population is vaccinated. Soon it is expected to reach 99%
This despite the most comprehensive campaign of disinformation ever unleashed on the world since, well since the Donald got himself elected.
What a monumental failure, what a colossal failure, what an unprecedented failure, quite possibly unmatched in modern history.
From 50% support to zero support in 2 years! (give or take 1 or 2 percent)
Well done team!
Maybe it is time to stop flogging a dead horse.
Maybe it is time to shut up for a while and give us all a break…..please!

So, I guess you’re saying “the numbers have it!”
You present a reasonable argument by suggesting that:
“Whenever human beings en masse decide “mostly” together that things are just swell the way we’re doing them, then that’s good enough for me!”
Things like whaling, stoning, executing, chopping, mining, selling, hedge funds, monopolies, tax evasion, profiteering, cool cynicism, western comforts, totalitarianism, genocide, etc – to merely begin the laundry list of “commonly accepted horrors”. All of these things, at one time or another had a group of MOST OF US “just going along with it”. Often the most of us didn’t do anything about emergent or present horrors, mostly because they wanted an easy life, or not get hassled at the newsagent, or butcher. However, just because opponents of these sorts of causes (and vaccination mandates) tend toward the minority, it does not, unfortunately, follow that their arguments, causes, or convictions are not worthy of common respect.
My suggestion to you is that you are cheer leading a kind a consolation and apathy, which leads you to a “faulty analogy” argument, where there is not enough relevance between your source domain and it’s target. That means that just because something is small, it does not mean it is stupid. Ask a poppy, or a tardigrade.
Remember that amazing photo from the occupy Wall Street Protests, when the bankers, in the happy majority, were seen laughing and mocking the protestors? Well, you’re those bankers in that photo.
So, yes, there are not many people who propose a resistance to mandated vaccination, or co-erced vaccination, or bash-them-over-the-head-with-news-until-they-just-do-it-by-God! vaccination, or even (mercy!) vaccination in general. But merely the fact that they are not many does not mean that “the not many are never relevant.” It is, I think, among the worst froms of privilege to sneer from a position of unearned power and didactically ‘decree’ that the quiet are not relevant, and are therefore worthy of mockery – just because they are quiet.
Don’t you think that probably a more reflective number to plug into your argument is the takeup of boosters? Right now, boosters are not mandated to merely retain the rights of being a common citizen. I think that’s more your real number of Aussies who are saying: “Nah. Not if you don’t make me.”
But never fear, the messaging now begins to suggest we are “correct” when we establish a jabjab gravy train for pfizer – no 3rd jab, just that “we’re up to date!” (Meaning “get up to date, mate”, or no citizenship for you!).
Nah. It all looks a case of too much good, far too soon for pharmaceutical companies for me to uncritically embrace the health discourse with all its attendant bells, whistles, and waste. And, to top it off, their authoritarian swagger is catching even in private settings! People are seems hellbent on turning public and private space into what feels like the inside of a hospital, or chemist warehouse, with a design sense and broad criticality of a screeching black cockatoo, or a Tasmanian.
