How did we get it so wrong?
As everybody knows, Christmas began in the Middle East, which is neither in the North or the South, as the name suggests. But somewhere along the way those Europeans turned it into a very Northern Midwinter Festival, having done so, they then proceeded to methodically take over the rest of the world, including the South. So here we are in The Antipodes decorating pine trees with holly and getting all worked up about Reindeers and sleighs and snow men and making father Christmas get around in a big red coat.’
According to the Bible, Christmas began in a place that never has snow from one millennium to the next, and here we are having Christmas Dinner while it’s 40 degrees in the shade. Maybe it’s about time Christmas got back to its desert roots. (although apparently it was a ‘garden of Eden’ back in those days – but that’s another story)
The Restoration of Our Lord Jesus Christ
An old lady in an old church in the old world decided to restore a badly damaged painting by a long dead artist. This is the result.
