Keeping the races in their places

When we call a person ‘white’ as a racial slur, we are calling out their racist attitude towards non-whites. That is not racism, that is anti-racism. To make a racist statement, someone must find it extremely offensive. Calling someone stupid and white is obviously only mildly offensive to all but the most sensitive souls. White, male English policemen are not included in that cohort. For a white policeman to claim he was extremely offended when called ‘white’ is patently absurd. It is nigh on impossible to offend any officer of the law, let alone a white man of many years experience. They have very thick skin. PC Lovell is obviously lying when he says he was offended, and that is perjury. The entire case should have been thrown out on that basis alone. As for being called stupid, well, stupidity seems to be a prerequisite for the job. Anyone who shows even a hint of intelligence, is told they are over-qualified.

If the law states that any racial slur is racist, then the law is an ass!

Racism is about putting races in their places, and keeping them there. If you abuse someone at the bottom of the pecking order you are maintaining the racial hierarchy, and that is racist! A white person typically sees themselves as a superior being at the very pinnacle of that pre-ordained order. But ‘coloured’ people,* typically view white people as being the embodiment of racism. Not necessarily individually, but as a race, generally white people are seen as being a racist race. So when we use the word ‘white’ as a racial slur, we are implying that the target of our slur is perpetuating racism, either consciously or unconsciously. So to call somebody ‘white’ you are calling out the racist attitude you see in them. Therefore, to call a person ‘white’ is actually an anti-racist comment.

Sam Kerr is Australian. Just last year, here in Australia, we had a national referendum to decide if  the ‘blackfullas’ (a colloquial term the our indigenous people often use to describe themselves) should be granted some say in how their lives are governed, after more than 250 years of relentless subjugation and persecution. The entire country answered with an emphatic NO! “Such is life!” – Ned Kelly

While our particular brand of racism is directed most cruelly and venomously at the blackfullas, it is a broad church, (and I mean that literally) happy to include all ‘coloured’ people beyond pale brown.**

Racism*** is a relatively new concept, beginning as an irksome but necessary weapon in the golden age of colonialism that began in 1492. While discrimination was obviously rampant before that, based on ethic, cultural and above all religious affiliations, the colour of your skin was relatively inconsequential.

When western Europeans, good Christians one and all, ventured out into the big wide world in order to plunder it, they were forced to commit some extremely gruesome and depraved acts. In order to justify this wanton depravity to themselves, they had to turn the happy and generally innocent folks they slaughtered, into savages not worthy of being considered members of the human race, and therefore an expendable nuisance. The only means of survival for the hapless natives was to become Christians. Their conversion instantly making them no longer wild animals of the forest, but fully fledged human beings. A miracle indeed! God works in strange ways, as they say. Oddly enough, to be considered a human being one had to embrace the wholesale genocide of your own people.

The racial stereotypes fostered during that seminal era, are meticulously maintained to this day, apparently in order to keep the ‘natives’ from rising up and slaughtering us in our beds, then taking back all our precious treasures. (ill-gotten gains)

Sam Kerr is not a blackfulla, she is of Indian decent. Before the notorious  East India Company, a privately run kleptocracy, began the systematic rape and pillage of the Indian subcontinent way back in 1860, India was one of the richest places on earth. By the time they were finished, less than a century later in 1947, it was one of the poorest! A text book lesson in how colonialism works in practice.

Bearing these facts in mind, we can hardly condemn Ms Kerr for directing a mild and inoffensive racial slur towards an official representative of the nation that stole her ancestors’ birth-rite, a white man who has made it clear by his treatment of her, that she must be kept in her place on a lower wrung of the ladder than himself.

The jury, thank God,**** did not accept PC Lovett’s view of the events, nor it seems, his view of the world.

*white people are the ones you see about with pallid, insipid skin, drained of all colour. They are the ‘the colourless people.’ Unless of course, they make themselves pale brown by unnatural means. But I don’t believe that is an attempt to pass themselves off as ‘coloured.” Where-as your ‘coloured’ person ( a colourful description, bordering on the absurd) actually only comes in varying shades of brown, or one shade of black. No matter how widely we travel, and we whites do love to travel, don’t we?, we will never encounter purple people, or green people, (unless we travel to Mars) we will only find brown and black people, or folks like us. ( and if we do come across one of our own tribe, we tend look away, lest they spoil our experience of the exotic)

***According to The Encyclopedia Britannica, no less, “racism is the belief that humans may be divided into separate and exclusive biological entities called “races.”

Races are a social construct. They do not exist outside our imagination!

**White people generally don’t like being white, they much prefer being light brown. Here in ‘the land down under,’ (under the intense rays of the sun) light brown means the quintessential ‘sun bronzed Aussie’, light brown means ‘a man/woman of the land’, light brown means ‘outdoorsy type.’ Australian mythology places us on a horse, patrolling our vast outback estate, shooting any trespassers, be they black, tan or brindle. Not many blacks left, I am afraid, didn’t blend in to their surroundings apparently, stuck out like dog’s balls, picked ’em off like rabbits in the headlights. Might still be some brindles lurking about though)

****Just a pithy figure of speech. I am not one of those religious types.
